[He's gotten a lot better at dodging thanks to Nehan's training, and he just recently acquired a bow so he wouldn't be useless! This could be something he could get into that's not just reading about Trench.]

After what you've gone through, wouldn't having another person out there to watch your back be helpful?
[That is true. There is a high chance that if they run into a monster of some sort that they would need to fight and the potential for injury is there. He sighs a little, taking another bite of his sandwich. It was vexing, wasn't it? That either way the potential for danger and harm was always on the horizon.]
I know it's not saying much, but I'd be taking on monsters from a distance if that eases some of your worries. [Which he's pretty sure not so much with the easing.] Would you take Kazuma then? I know he's significantly more prepared for this than I am with his sword training.
I mean, I appreciate the sentiment. I think it's sweet you would rather not want us to get hurt. [He gently lays a hand on Manabu's arm.] But we need to face the facts: getting hurt is inevitable here.

[Manabu's face goes pink, his hair fluffing a bit both at the remark and the touch. a guilty pit in his stomach drops, mingling with worry at the notion of Ryunosuke going off on his own. it's not a great feeling, even if it's born of kinder ones.]

[while Ryunosuke talks, Manabu shoves the remainder of his own sandwich in his mouth. it doesn't taste very good anymore, but that's just the aftertaste of Bad Feelings.
after wiping his mouth with the back of his hand:] Mn. It's where the hunters train. Where...anyone can go, I guess. To fight. A lot of it's a bit too brutal, but...given the way things can get, I guess that's to be expected, right?
I see. I wasn't aware. [And he's never journeyed so far to reach it and to be fair he doesn't know many Hunters. He thinks about it for a moment, hand on his chin.] I mean, if you think it would be the best idea right now to get some practice in before really exploring...

[He's not surprised that Manabu has been going there with Childe, though some part of him wish he knew. He can't demand that Manabu tell him everything - that's not fair to him. He's allowed to do things on his own. Come on Ryunosuke, that would be too controlling and he wasn't going to do that to his boyfriend.]
[with a wavering laugh in his voice:] Wi-with each other... We wind up having to fight monsters together a lot anyway, so that part we...kind of have covered already, eheh...
But, but yeah...we could go there. There's things we can work with to train. [a touch sheepish:] I never seen a bow and arrow outside of cartoons, too, so...it'd be kind of cool to see.
I'd like that. [He smiles.] Are you giving me a chance to show off a bit? [He chuckles lightly, nudging at his side.] I might be a bit rusty but archery was something I was good at.
[He was good at school but when you compare yourself to Kazuma a lot, you don't think you're good at much of anything.]
[with a little fluster:] That-that means it's even more important! If you're rusty, I can't take you on the perimeter anyway! You'd be shooting off-target!
I'm not going to shoot off target! [He huffs a little, before he finds himself laughing.] But you're right. All the more reason to practice. It's been a year and a half since I've really held a bow. But it's not like I've forgotten!
[A year in London and half a year in Trench... he's been counting the days and if they were anything like back home for a month to month scale it's been about that long.]
Then you can prove it! [firm nod.] Now that the sun's back out, it's less an issue to get out that way. When you're ready to give it a shot, we'll do it!
[it's a totally-pumped feedback loop here: Manabu's looking ready to jump off the seat himself.] Mn! Okay! You-- [oh!] You have a bow already? Or just a sword? We could go to Diluc and pick up some things from the smith there!
