[He can't stop the blush that creeps into his cheeks, and it's so damn silly that he's getting flustered over sharing a futon!] Besides, it helps me make sure that you actually get some sleep. [He nudges Manabu's side with a teasing laugh.]
I know you know how to sleep, it's just a matter on if you are getting enough sleep.
[Not that sleeping in Trench is easy. Ryunsouke is also one to talk considering he's not been sleeping well himself. He follow Manabu into the room and shuts the door behind them.]
Maybe this will be good for both of us. I feel more relaxed than I have been.
[their belongings were already moved into a corner of the room by staff - Manabu goes and checks all the same. clothes and satchel and all...by then, the matter of being relaxed hits his ears and prompts him to glance over his shoulder.]
Eh? Really? No one's ever accused me of being the kind of person to be relaxed around before, eheh...
Manabu, I like spending time with you. Of course I'm going to feel relaxed around you.
[He smiles gently. It was true though. He felt steadier around Manabu, like he wasn't facing this horror show alone. It was almost sobering, knowing that someone could make him feel that way. It was nice knowing that the weight on his shoulders as he navigated Trench wasn't too heavy because he had support.]
[perhaps Ryunosuke's gonna get sick of repeating such affirmations, but Manabu sure isn't sick of hearing them. each one yields a happy little flutter in his stomach and a tingle at the back of his neck, prompting a twitchy half-smile then and there as he rummages around for his slacks, figuring he'd just sleep in those.
he pulls those on under his robe while replying:] Haa, true! True... Weird, though, right? Since the heat was so bad just a few days ago, you'd think we'd be sick of that, but...
[He's not. He'll gladly reassure Manabu every time if it meant that he would start to believe him.]
I think hot water is different from hot air. The water feels soothing, while the air feels stifling. [He points out as he tries his best not to watch Manabu get dressed.] At least, that's what I've come to find.
[A pause.]
Are my trousers over there as well? [He doesn't want to crowd Manabu just yet considering they would be sharing the futon together.]
Lemme check. [after he shrugs off his robe and sets that aside, that is. he rummages around and finds what's been asked for, and he walks over to hold them out for the taking.] Nice to know I'm not the only dummy who didn't think about nightclothes. [but then again, he'd expected this to just be a day trip, but...time got ahead of him, and by the time he should've made a move to leave...he didn't really want to. and that's fine, isn't it? nobody's going to miss the Roost for one day.]
[It was late, and while they have left and returned home, he was finding that he didn't mind that they both opted to stay in the area and get their rest. He takes his slacks and quickly pulls them up his legs. After buttoning them up, he shrugs off his robe as well, holding it in his arms.]
Thank you. I'm really glad we're able to spend some time together. [He reaches out and rest his hand against Manabu's arm with a soft smile.]
[ah, there's another little flutter, just at a touch. maybe Manabu will never stop feeling like that whenever Ryunosuke touches him... he hopes not, at least.
that said, there's an impulse he has to bite back on just then - the want to ask permission. he does that ceaselessly, whenever he wants to get close, no matter how many times he's told he doesn't need to. this time, he catches it before he can utter it, instead just leaning in to catch Ryunosuke's lips in an impromptu kiss. as ever, he's better in deeds than words, and hopefully this suffices better than some sheepishly uttered yeah, me too.]
[There's something to be said about the spontaneous nature of the kiss that really catches him off guard. He doesn't react, not at first, not until it registers that Manabu didn't actually ask him for permission. Ryunosuke smiles against his lips and pushes forward to kiss him back, practically dropping the robe in the process.
It's a spark, his heart beating faster, lightheaded in a good way - indescribable feelings that welled up inside of him as he kissed Manabu. He moves his hands up to cup his cheeks, taking a step closer to be near him.]
[the reciprocation, the proximity - both are so reaffirming to a man so new to intimacy but still so desperate to cling to the very few who remain. pieces of his heart keep getting pulled away from him no matter what he does: his family, his partner, all the friends he's made who have helped keep him safe and sane... Manabu can't really be faulted for reflexively clinging so fast, can he?
and he does, winding his arms around Ryunosuke's waist and pressing close - contact which lights a fresh warmth in him that he's not quick to shy away from. July had been oppressive in its heat, but Ryunosuke's body, his mouth...those are inviting.]
[He wants to get closer, closer, closer as he moves his hands from his cheeks to move his arms around his neck as he follows in suit. Ryunosuke longs to lose himself in Manabu, to fall headfirst into something he doesn't want to name. He often wonders how they managed to have a relationship in Trench, how it's managed to grow despite the everyday nature of the horrors they find. Between the beasts and blood, he was grateful that he found some sense of normalcy.
He breaks their kiss just for a moment, a second to catch his breath before he's back on Manabu's lips, chasing after the heat.]
[that second sees that Manabu can barely utter a sound, just the half-thought suggestion to ask, as he always did, if Ryunosuke was okay. maybe the next kiss is answer enough, huh Yuuki? even if it's not, it's wonderful. the way his head swims in such a pleasant way is better than any booze buzz he'd stomached for the sake of socializing, and the secure sensation that comes with arms curling over his shoulders fuels both relief and excitement in him that's incomparable to anything else.
no one makes me feel the way you do, he thinks, wishing to convey it somehow in a way that's clear (that doesn't require words, because he's busy).
his mouth parts without a thought, yearning for Ryunosuke's tongue. they've kissed in such a way before with...mixed success and levels of awkward on each other's behalf, but there's a mutual assurance in this moment that banishes apprehension faster than Manabu can think it up. he's thinking more about the feel of Ryunosuke's back - how deceptively strong he is, despite his gentle demeanor. he's getting that feeling - the one he'd get in watching Ryunosuke at shooting practice, with the way the muscles of his arms flexed and relaxed with the drawing of a bow...
he's sure he better reel it in or he's going to have to apologize for some downstairs situations pretty soon.]
[He doesn't know how else to express his feelings. Poetry, certainly, but that was not really something he shared with anyone. He chases after Manabu, tongue flicking into his mouth experimentally once he parts it, remembering the previous times they tried and failed (but learned!) and is thrilled that this time it just feels right. Their careful exploration has lead them to this, and Ryunosuke is excited for it.

Despite his confidence in their relationship, he's still unsure what he can do. He wants to touch, wants to explore more intimately - things he isn't certain how to express with words, but he's trying to do so through his actions. With his free hand he rests it on Manabu's shoulder, briefly, then moves down to touch his chest tentatively.
Nerves were getting to him, the feeling of being unsure if this was wanted welling up inside of him. It didn't seem warranted, that it was mutual longing, but never the less his nerves are frayed and waiting for the line to be drawn.]
[the hand through his hair and the little tug when fingers curl elicit a groan against Ryunosuke's mouth - one he'd ought to recoil and apologize for, right? but he doesn't, his thoughts far from apology. his breath's better spent drawn deep in a moment to catch it, all the better for his chest to rise up and meet the hand settled there, sending an electric tingle all throughout.]
Ryuu... Can I... Can we-? [scattershot attempts at trying to convey scattershot thoughts too wrapped up in feeling - he should apologize for that, too, huh?]
[The groan does something to him. Knowing that he could get that kind of noise from Manabu has him wanting to know what else he could do. He tugs again, just to see if he could get another one.]
Yes. [He breathes out, taking a moment to look over Manabu. Whatever his question was, he was hoping that he longed for the same. To be closer, to be intimate, to see where this rabbit hole would go with the two of them. He runs his other hand down his chest, down his abs and stomach to the waistband of his trousers.] Is this... this is what you mean, right?
[He's second guessing his actions, but he wants to be damn certain that Manabu wants him to go further.]
[eyes flutter for a moment, caught up in the tickle and tingle of the hand on the move that stays his breath and next thought until right? makes him blink and refocus.]
Y-yeah, I-- [he stops, blinks, blinks again with more lucidity, and stares for a beat, his gaze trailed up a bit.
hey so what happens when you're rubbing up on a guy full of latent electricity?]
Hh, holy crap...your hair... [his mouth twitches, a sound stuck in his throat. do not laugh at dumb shit, you dumb shit. it's rude!!!]
[Permission granted, he's going to move forward before he stops again, hand barely moving from where it was previously.]
My.... hair? [He seems genuinely confused for a moment, untangling himself from Manabu just to investigate when he feels that his hair is standing up on end. He laughs. Ryunosuke feels like he should have seen this coming considering, but he didn't, and his laughter is unbridled and bright.
He recovers enough to reach out and kiss Manabu again, deeply, passionately.]
[well, if Ryunosuke can laugh, so can Manabu, and thank goodness for that - it seems to kill the last remaining tensions still holding each other back, and it certainly lightens Manabu's heart to hear such a thing from him! and he barely has a chance to brace himself when he's pulled back in for that kiss, one which staggers him with a wild, thrilling buzz before he can reciprocate with an equal measure of gusto.
heart pounding wild, stomach doing somersaults, skin a-tingle...all because of this generous and kind man. Manabu can't help the emotive whimper against his mouth as his touch compels him. the tangle of a discarded robe threatening to trip him up keeps him from stepping in too far too fast, but it does bring with it a sense of space.
[Maybe they should lay down. Maybe they should slow down. Maybe they should do a lot of things but they're hurtling forward towards something that Ryunosuke isn't sure he wants to end. He just wants more, more, more, something he can't quite vocalize but he could clearly show in action. He finds himself throwing his arms around Manabu's neck again, fingers moving into his hair and tugging as he kisses him, desperate to get closer.
Wanting to get closer means tripping on the discarded robe as it gets tangled in his feet. He stumbles into Manabu, glad to catch himself against him rather than just falling over. He looks at Manabu, a little embarrassed that he's stumbled to begin with, but he might as well take it as a sign.]
Sorry- [He starts, then stops.Then starts again with-] Why don't we lay down?
[Why don't they do a lot of things? If they at least lay down they won't run the risk of tripping over the robe again.]
Whoa-! Uoh-- [thankfully, Manabu's able to stabilize the both of them. it comes at the cost of a flash of heat that radiates off his skin, but that's better than an electroshock, right?

Mn. Yeah. [that means relaxing his grip on Ryunosuke's waist. that means arms will have to unwind from around his shoulders. it's a tough bargain in some sense, but they part soon enough - and only just enough to sit down without any further stumbling.
there's a point in that transition where Manabu, already sitting, can look up and see Ryunosuke above him, barechested and silhouetted by the low lamplight in the room, and the sight steals his breath and makes him ache.]

[It's not the most eloquent compliment, but it certainly gets his heart racing, and easily brings color to his cheeks. It's just so... Manabu. It didn't have to be fancy to be appreciated. He moves to sit down next to him, giving him an easy smile as he reaches out to cup his cheek.]

[Because he'd be lying to himself if he didn't find Manabu attractive. He was handsome and sweet, and while he can be a bit high-strung, Rynosuke finds that he doesn't mind it. He enjoys his time with him, even if it's sporadic and unpredictable. Even when Manabu works himself silly, he knows that he'll still try and carve our time for them to spend together. It's that sort of care and thought that makes his heart ache in a good way.]
[Ryunosuke can just smile through any of Manabu's bumblings, can't he? it's kind of crazy, but he won't question it right now, too caught up in the spell of soft kisses and meaningful touches as he is.
he scoots in, eager to keep close and enjoy the little thrills of sensation wherever skin touches skin, eager to give Ryunosuke's hands room to roam and surprise him repeatedly when those thrills rise to the surface. touching in turn is...well, he's a bit wary of himself, but mirroring movement does come up eventually, once a ginger grazing of fingertips can become a press of the palm.
somehow, despite being warm all over, Manabu still finds cause to shiver. it's a nice feeling, though.]
